Adult Swim Cancels The Venture Bros. [UPDATED

The Venture Bros. creator Christopher McCulloch (aka Jackson Public) announced on Twitter this evening that Adult Swim has canceled his long-running action-adventure series. [Unfortunately, it's true: #VentureBros has been canceled. We received this very unfortunate news a few months ago while writing season 8. To all of our wonderful fans, thank you for your support over the past 17 years. And as always, We Love You”.

The series will conclude with 81 episodes produced over seven seasons. Inspired by Hanna Barbera's “Jonny Quest,” the stylish series was produced on an unusually slow schedule for an animated television series, with episodes produced on an unusually slow schedule, sometimes with long gaps of over two years between seasons.

The news of the cancellation was reported in Go Team Venture! The Art and Making of The Venture Bros.

UPDATE #2: Adult Swim released the following statement about the series' cancellation: “We want to see more Venture Bros. I would love to see more Venture Bros. and am looking for another way to continue the Venture Bros. story with Jackson (Public) and Doc (Hammer). [The most likely home for the continuation of The Venture Bros. would be HBO Max, a streaming service operated by Warnermedia, the parent company of Adult Swim.
