New York Film Critics Circle name "Flow" The best animation features of 2024
The New York Film Critics Association (NYFCC) made a statement tonight with their pick for this year's best animated feature film: Gints Zilbalodis' Flow, No Dialogueは3.7 million The Belgian/French/Latvian co・production will be in large studios with an order of magnitude budget, including Disney Pixar's Inside Out2 and Dreamworks Animation's The Wild Robot. The film also beat the American film of the Year.
The NYFCC, the oldest film critics group in the United States, is not necessarily a winner, but a solid indicator of future Academy Award nominees. During a year when both the NYFCC and the Academy have been handing out animated Feature awards, 20 of the 22 NYFCC winners are to be nominated for an Oscar. The NYFCC and Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences agreed in half the time for the winners over the past 10 years, including last year when Hayao Miyazaki's The Boy and The Heron outnumbered both events.
Flow, which is currently limited release in Los Angeles and New York City through Janus Films, is expanding more widely this weekend. In addition to competing in the Animated Feature Film category of the Academy Awards, it has been submitted from Latvia as the country's official entry for the International Feature Film category.
Premiered at the UN Specific Points sidebar at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival and was a huge hit at Annecy on May 6, winning more awards than any other title in this year's competition.Feature Film Jury Award, Audience Award, Gan Foundation Distribution Award, Best Original music for feature films. It is currently nominated for the Animated Feature Film category at the European Film Awards, which is being held on Saturday in Switzerland.
The animation was produced by Sacrebleu Productions (France) and Take Five (Belgium), while Zilbalodis was produced through his own Latvian studio, Dream Well Studio.
